It Started in a Bar

Foreword: If you’ve been here a while you might remember when I very first started writing “Wine Time” Posts. Which are now “The Obsidian Forrest” Posts. If you don’t remember, or if you’re new, for one welcome, thank you for stopping in and I hope you enjoy your stay! For two, I urge you to first go check out Karaoke Bar Romance as this is the Sequel to that post. I know three to four years is a while for a Sequel but honestly I never even knew I wanted to write one. To be honest I might write a third part in the future but nothing is set in stone for this particular couple. But whether you’re new to Stormy Ville or a Resident of the Shire. I hope you enjoy this story. Don’t forget to leave a like, and follow for more!

Without further a due here’s what happened with Veronica and Zachary.

Ten years later.

Never in a thousand lifetimes had I pictured something like this for my wedding. Or my life. Standing here in the Appalachian Mountains, looking around at all my friends and family, my baby girl stood by my side willing to accept this woman into her life, just her being here in general that part felt impossible. My brother and mother both here. Crying their eyes out like big babies. It’s adorable. I’m about half a song from crying to be honest with you. Her best friends are stood across the way Amy, the one that coaxed her into giving me a shot… standing proudly in that rainbow and black dress because for some reason, we had to have a rainbow and black wedding, in the fall, in the freaking mountains an hour from our farm. She’s a unique woman. But special. And I was outvoted by both the women in the planning. Well, woman and girl. As Faith wanted rainbows on her face. It was a whole thing. And honestly, totally worth it.

The best of it though? As the pianist begins to play the instrumentals to Iris, the song she wanted to walk down the aisle to, she and her brother started walking. I finally got to see the dress, I finally got see her. My bride to be. Faith grabbed my arm and let out the smallest little squeal of excitement. I don’t know how I got so lucky with every soul around me. How my life went from nothing to everything overnight…

An all-black dress, long-sleeved, ballgown style and in the back on the train was a deep colorful rainbow, that the darkness flowed into. My god it was amazing. She was wearing a crown with all dark colored gems. Her hair was down, flowers and leaves throughout it, she looked like a forest god or something.

“Are you wearing the boots?” I ask as she hugs her brother, wiping his tears, the poor dude was having a harder time with all this than their parents. But the boots, I can’t believe she still has those things. Old and warn down, I reckon they count as the something old. Faith gave her a necklace which counted as the borrowed. And in the crown there was blue gems. So those counted as the blue. Our wedding was the perfect blend of old and new.

“Yes. I am, can’t get married without the lucky boots.” She smiles. “You look mighty dapper today Mr. Maddox, you as well Princess Maddox.” She curtsy’s as she addresses Faith.

“Thank you, you look fabulous as always.” Faith laughs giving her a hug. Since the first time those two met they’ve been pretty good friends. “Dad looks pretty great too, but I already hyped him up. It’s your turn.”

“I see how it is. But I was only going to ask if I was allowed to have a chance to “hype up” as you say it, my soon to be bride. You know?” I grin, knowing full well where all that attitude comes from.

“Sure. I suppose I can share my best friend.” She huffs rolling her eyes a big smile on her face.

“I know what I’m about to say might tick you off royally. But honestly, I don’t really care I think it’s worth it. Taylor Swift could never.”

She tried to be mad, it only lasted for a second. Barely. Veronica Lawson was and is the greatest love song ever written. I could see it all. The past ten years felt like moments. I couldn’t believe it was my life.

The farm, the home, a two story, brick home built from nothing. I built it with her. She’s a successful mobile vet, I’m carrying on the Maddox family legacy of being a farmer of sorts. Honestly, I used to hate it, but I love it. I love it here. I love the land, and place we built, together. It’s amazing.

She is my happily ever after. It does exist.

As they pronounce us husband and wife giving the signal. I can’t help but smile, One hell of a grin. Look what I did dad? I made it. I got my girls, my home, my family, that’s all I need. This is my happily ever after and it all started in a bar. A karaoke bar at that.

If you made it to the end of the post drop a “Taylor could never” in the comments below so I know you made it! Don’t forget to like and follow for more! I can’t wait to share more and hear your thoughts! I hope you enjoyed the story I know it was a bit vague but that’s how I pictured it. (Hopefully the vibe I was going for came across perfectly.) As always until next time – stay safe, love hard and protect your peace ❤
