I was pleasantly surprised that the party went over completely well without any hiccups. The surprise that my friends planned was the sweetest reminder that I needed so much in that moment. And honestly it was nice to be able to enjoy spending time with my parents and my brothers and my friends. Everyone all together. Connor seemed to get along with everyone too, which was a bonus and we even had a few stolen moments. Overall, it was the perfect housewarming party. I was only slightly hungover the next day when it came to cleaning up, but Jake, Micky and the four who were staying with me for the weekend were there and we got it knocked out quickly, Braden and Connor came over to help too. Which was very sweet and unnecessary. But also very welcomed, because the more hands-on deck the quicker it got done.
Plus it was nice to get to hang out again, without alcohol in the mix. Some of the housewarming gifts were plants and things for the planter by the pool so while everyone was there we went ahead and got it all put together. Even though Ghaston wasn’t a very helpful with all of it. He really enjoyed treating the hose like a snake…
We also ended up just having another grill out, just to enjoy each other’s company and get to know each other. Everyone was having a good time and cooling off in the pool. A perfect way to start the week if you ask me.
“Don’t you start work back this week?” Jake asks from the edge of the pool.
“Yes, thank god tomorrow.” I say stepping into the water.
“You’re excited to go back to work?” Braden asks in disbelief.
“Duh, I’m bored. I’ve put everything away, I already did the bed rotting. I need normalcy. Plus, I can’t buy cool shit if I’m broke.”
“She’s got a point.” Connor laughs. “She just moved in, I’m sure she’s got a list of cool shit she wants to buy.”
“You have no idea! Plus, I can’t wait to actually go shopping! Oh my god, like actually go shopping and I can buy dinner that I want to make!”
“She’s going to order from Frawley’s if it fails.” Drew sighs. “She also wants to cook you dinner.”
“Hey!” I splash him.
“What you do?”
“What if I wanted to tell him!”
“Would you?”
“What if I was planning a cute invite in the mailbox?”
“Are you?” Drew counters.
“Shut up!”
The rest of Sunday was relaxing as we all got to know each other and just enjoyed the summer day. I personally was enjoying my own home. I was still basking in the afterglow. Still enjoying the haze before reality set back in. Seeing as tomorrow was back to the world of event planning and making other people’s dreams a reality. My favorite part of the job. Which I was excited for because I’m kind of going stir crazy. I’m better with structure. Don’t get me wrong, the break has been nice but not with everyone else at work? That part sucks. I have to entertain myself in a big empty house? It’s not super empty but you get the point. Anyway, I love my job.
Plus, I really was excited to be able to decorate my home and make it more mine. To buy things here and there and even invite Connor over for dinner. I have this vision. I can’t wait to make it a reality. I know it’ll take some time, but I’m here for the long run. I can be patient. I’ve made it this far, haven’t I?
