I’ve always been a creative person, I loved expressing myself in school and out of boredom. A journaler, a story teller and a take the long way around kind of gal. When writing for school I would do the most, when hanging out with friends I’d make up stories just to entertain them. Then I sought out a place to be myself. A place of my own creation one of expression and self discovery.
I know this story is written on my about me page and I believe I’ve told it before (maybe not but I’m going to tell it again). When I was 13/14/15 (somewhere in there) I had a dream (literally). My family was talking about moving to West Virginia at the time and this dream took place in a new town in West Virginia. A new town and new me so to speak. I dropped my first name, (i’d never really liked my first name much) and I started going by my middle name and even went back to public school. This dream I’d thrown a party it was my birthday party and I invited new friends and classmates and the most popular boy in the school (and the boy I had a crush on) he was talking about my blog. It was a weird dream 😂 but basically everyone found out that I was a blogger and I had been and I made a bunch of cool friends. And for the first time in my life (even though it was a dream) I didn’t feel invisible. I felt seen and understood.
When I woke up that morning with the dream still ever present in my mind, the title of the blog burned onto my retinas. The feeling of hey? I can do this. I decided that day after school to make a blogspot account.
I found myself writing into the abyss, but writing to that girl in my dream – that version of me, I longed to be and I longed to see again. I escaped. I retreated, I edited, I fell flat, but most of all I kept writing. I kept evolving. I always fell back to the page. Writing was my coping mechanism. It’s an escape, it’s a love language, it’s a magical place. Writing is a life line and to quote one of my favorite quotes ever – if I can find who said it I’ll add it but “I write so I can breathe” that’s why I chose a blog. Because it’s mine, it’s my home and I hope others can find a home here as well. But I write for that little girl I was and that teenager who dreamed, and the young woman I am and the woman I’m still becoming. That’s why I write.
