Welcome or welcome back to another stormy night in the shire! Tonight kicks off the spin off of the “Confessionals” series, our take on thirteen sleepless nights. Exploring a haunted house, aka my mind. So, buckle in, and grab your popcorn or a snack, that wicked wine or the bubbly! I’m your host Hailstorm and what better series for the ooky spooky season than, digging into our own skeletons, summoning the demons and welcoming our beasts to the table?
I won’t hold you, we are starting with something a bit lighter. A bit goofy if we must but a sleepless night none the less and I’m not sure how this series will officially play out, as in I’m not sure if we’ll start small, and work our way to the deeper or just roll the dice and see how it goes. But for now, tonight we’re going with something fun but still haunting. Also there is a reason this is classed under the Confessions series. So, there will be some wild takes in here. Nothing too crazy. But anyway, let’s get into our first window…
The house.
A bit of background is necessary as I love building a good story. I’m a minecraft girly, og minecraft kid. A binge gamer. A rage quitter. I know. I know. Theres one world that comes close to my original minecraft survival world. While not a survival world this world is still treasured. This specific creative world I’ve built and cultivated for my younger cousin and I. Let’s call him “S” because the amount of times I wrote Little Cousin when drafting this post? Insane. I don’t want to use his name. But anyway. This world is a flat world where I built a mansion and a huge property. We’re talking I walled the place off and I’m slowly building little mini biomes inside the property lines. And I’m slowly working on building a roller coaster to go from my places through S’s little attractions, we already built space ships. His is better. Damn gen Alpha – I’m kidding I love Gen Alpha three of my cousins are that generation. I worry about that generation but I also worry about Gen Z out here telling Millennials to retire – that’s a topic for another post. Anyway. Also yes I know I’m Gen Z. I could do a House on that to be honest.
I’m getting off track. Back to Minecraft.
You’re probably like what the fuck does a minecraft world have to do with a haunted house or a sleepless night? Well, let me explain. Do you guys remember back in December – February when I was in a relationship? Yeah, I know I’ve really lost you now. Just stay with me, and if you don’t remember it’s fine, I don’t think I ever explicitly said I was dating? I can’t remember, I usually try not to, I know I never talk openly about who I’m dating. But anywho, heres how it connects – I let my boyfriend at the time play in mine and S’s minecraft world.
You’re probably thinking okay well, don’t be so damn dramatic, it’s just a minecraft world what’s the big deal? To which I say, yes, it’s just minecraft until, I put myself in a kid’s shoes and think of how I would feel if someone let our world get “invaded” by a stranger. And I had no say in it. And again maybe I’m dramatic and maybe I was an overly sensitive kid. But I don’t know. But that’s not even the worst part.
Nor is the worst part that he built a MASSIVE house like three blocks from my little cousin’s designated building area – literally the fence was touching S’s TNT launcher. But…
We broke up.
Yeah, not long after that house was built our relationship…yeah. That’s a story for another day. But yeah, so, it keeps me up at night for a lot of reasons. And credit where credit is due, that house was actually pretty cool.
You might notice I’m using “was” as in the past tense. I have a confession to make. I started project demolition. I thought it was reasonable timing seeing as it’s been six months since the relationship ended. Plus, I do want it gone before my cousin comes over. Part two of the confession, I did think about just blowing it up and sending him a video of it before I deleted him off PSN (I hadn’t been on my playstation in six months for real). I would say, “in my defense I was manic” but I don’t believe in blaming or using my mental health as an excuse, I’ll own it. I just wanted the house out of my minecraft world. I said I thought about it, I didn’t do it. I have self control.
There is a reason this is a spin off of our Confessionals. We can have intrusive thoughts and not let them win… but I am only one third of the way done with it. Again, credit where credit is due, the house was epic. I just don’t want to look at it every time I play. Plus, I shouldn’t have let someone else into mine and my cousin’s minecraft world to begin with. I learned a valuable lesson, while it still keeps me up at night, now I know, don’t let an unverified third player join the world unless they’re a permanent fixture. Aka, no one joins from my side unless there’s a ring on my finger and even then I’ll still be a little skeptical, so my apologies in advance Always, but some clubs have to stay exclusive 🙂
